    Come and join us for an amazing summer of English and activities – you will be working with students from all over the world in a professional, friendly and supportive team. NCG is a successful and growing provider of summer courses for young people (10-17) in a variety of prestigious locations in England and Ireland.  We are currently recruiting dynamic and enthusiastic management staff, teachers and activity leaders.

     

    York (Queen Ethelburga’s College) 30 June – 28 July

    London (University of Greenwich) 30 June – 4 August

    Manchester (University of Salford) 30 June – 11 August


    You will have overall responsibility for the school, including ensuring the academic and social programmes are run effectively, and you will line manage the Director of Studies and the Activity Manager. You will take primary responsibility for the safeguarding and welfare of the students, oversee allocation of accommodation, communicate effectively with staff, students, Group Leaders, the host institution and the NCG Head Office, complete all paperwork in a timely manner, keep within the set budgets and deliver an outstanding experience to both students and Group Leaders.

    Requirements

    •   University degree
    •   Previous management experience essential – preferably within a summer school setting
    •   Excellent communication, time management and interpersonal skills
    •   Native level proficiency in English
    •   Flexibility and adaptability and the ability to think on your feet
    •   Experience of money management/budgets
    •   Ability to motivate your team
    •   First aid certificate desirable

     

    Rate of pay: £672.42 per week including holiday pay + free board and lodging

    You will be responsible for the smooth running of the academic programme and will lead a team of teachers with varying amounts of experience. Duties include induction of academic staff, assessment testing and appropriate placement of students, timetabling, ensuring the syllabus is used effectively, teacher observations, and providing teacher and Group Leader workshops. You will support the Centre Manager in the management of the centre and deputise for him/her when necessary, and will be expected to undertake pastoral, welfare or other duties as necessary.

    •   Previous summer school experience

    You will be responsible for the efficient planning, organisation and running of the social programme both off-site and on-site, and you will liaise with Group Leaders and students to promote the programme and ensure student participation. You will manage a team of Activity Leaders, delegating tasks to them and ensuring that the safety and welfare of students is at the forefront of everything they do. You will deputise for the Centre Manager when required and will be expected to undertake pastoral, welfare or other duties as necessary.

     

    Requirements

    •   Previous experience of working on a summer school social programme is essential
    •   Managerial experience desirable
    •   Excellent communication, time management and interpersonal skills
    •   Excellent organisational skills, problem solving ability and the ability to think on your feet
    •   Boundless enthusiasm and the ability to motivate staff, students and Group Leaders

    Residential positions are available in York and London. All teaching positions in Manchester are non-residential.

    You will plan and teach engaging and interactive lessons based on New College Group’s themed materials, prepare students for excursions and assist the Director of Studies in testing new students.

    We operate a full-day teaching programme (30 contact hours a week Monday to Friday). Planning time, administrative and supervisory duties and CPD sessions will also be included in your working week. There may be weeks when the teaching load is lighter, and you will be required to participate in the social/activity programme, working alongside the Activity Leaders.

     

    Requirements

    •   University degree + CELTA/Trinity Cert TESOL or equivalent (100 hours input + 6 hours observed teaching practice)
    •   Native level competency in English
    •   Good classroom management skills
    •   Experience of working with children/teenagers, preferably within a summer school setting
    •   Experience of teaching multilingual groups
    •   Flexible and adaptable

     

    Rate of pay: £448.28 per week including holiday pay; board and lodging provided for residential positions, for which there is a weekly charge of £31.50.

    The social programme is an integral part of the summer school experience and should be interesting, fun and stimulating for the students. You will prepare, participate in and lead excursions and sports, drama, and arts and crafts activities, as well as evening entertainment sessions. You will also be required to undertake pastoral and supervisory duties.

     

    •   No formal qualifications required, but enthusiasm and a can-do attitude essential
    •   Experience of working with children/teenagers essential, preferably in a summer school setting
    •   First aid certificate desirable
    •   NLPQ lifeguarding qualification or sports coaching qualification desirable
    •   Ability to lead sessions in sport, drama, dance, arts and crafts
    •   Native level competency in English
    •   Good communication and time management skills

     

    Rate of pay: £364.23 per week including holiday pay + board and lodging, for which there is a weekly charge of £31.50 (all positions residential)
