It might be getting colder outside, but now’s certainly not the time to hide away. There are so many fun activities to enjoy through December in the city of Manchester, and they’re a great way to socialise and meet new friends!
Lace up your skates and join us for an afternoon of festive fun at the outdoor ice skating rink in Manchester’s city centre. Beautifully set in New Bailey, right next to Spinningfields, the ice rink is said to be the number one attraction in Manchester’s Christmas Calendar.
Hosting a number of themed events throughout the holiday season so far, including DJ and choir nights, our trip to the rink will be great fun for those who can’t wait to get on the ice, and even for those who would rather spectate.
If you’re in need of any last minute gifts, or would even like to treat yourself, then a trip to the Trafford shopping centre could be just what you’re after. Hundreds of stores, delicious restaurants and lively bars, this is the ideal hub for taking some time away from your studies to relax with friends.
Be sure to check out the traditional Victorian Carousel and festive stalls in Barton Square, for lots of tasty treats and handmade gifts.
The Winter Studio at The Whitworth is a great place to discover creative artwork and have a go at making your own winter art. Enter the Clore Learning Studio to take part in treasure hunt style games, or use the provided materials to design collages and decorations.
We’re stepping back in time on 23rd December for an exciting visit to Manchester museum where we will learn about and discuss the past, present and future of the planet and its inhabitants. The museum trip will give you the chance to enjoy, and be inspired by a wide collection of international manmade and natural history.
Celebrate the holidays and season of goodwill at the International Society’s annual festive party. There will be a fun team quiz and festive music as well as party food and drinks to enjoy with friends from all over the world. Visit internationalsociety.org.uk for more information
The event is free for members, or £4 for non-members. Be sure to book your place before 5pm on Tuesday 22nd December!
Keep up to date with all the latest events via New College Group Manchester’s social calendar or take a look at the leaflets located in reception on the information rack.
