Last week was another lively week at New College Manchester with events happening every day of the week, starting on Monday with the walking tour of Manchester. As usual on Tuesdays, we played football at the local Powerleague pitches. Also on Tuesday we had our weekly Conversation Club where students and teachers come together and practice the English they learn in class. Wednesday started off with a trip to the fascinating Manchester Science Museum – a great place to learn new vocabulary!
On Wednesday evening we walked to the cinema with movie buff Karenne to watch the new Hollywood blockbuster, The Bourne Legacy, which, by all accounts, was amazing!
On Thursday morning we went to the fantastic Manchester Art Gallery. Tom, our resident teacher/art expert, took a small group of students around the gallery to marvel at the various works of art.
Friday was another eventful day, especially for all football fans! We went to the brand new National Football Museum. This museum is really something to be proud of for the people of Manchester, a city which should now really be known as Manchester ‘The Home of Football’!”
Next week will be another eventful week with trips to The Imperial War Museum (Wednesday), The Lowry Art Gallery (Thursday) and afternoon tea on Friday evening, and, of course, there will be the usual Conversation Club and football on Tuesday.
Remember, the majority of our trips are completely FREE so they are the best way to see the city and to practice your English.
I’m really looking forward to seeing many faces, old and new, next week, and to show what Manchester has to offer!
All the best,
John (your Social Events Co-ordinator)
